What We Do

Cooling Infrastructure
That Looks Like
Public Art.

A youmist special effects installation is a misting system — the same high-pressure pump, stainless pipework and precision nozzles used across all our installations. The difference is where the nozzles go and what you see when they activate.

Flush-mount nozzles set into pavement or decking. Ground fog rising from a flat surface with no visible source. LED lighting integrated into the mist cloud, turning it any colour. Misting rings around landscape sculptures. Catenary lines creating a fog wall across a public space.

The effect is theatrical. The function is real — every special effects installation also provides meaningful evaporative cooling to the space it activates. Councils get a public art moment and a cooling solution in the same installation.

Specified by landscape architects at design stage. Delivered turnkey by youmist — civil, plumbing, electrical, controls.

12°C
Temperature reduction delivered by every special effects installation.

Effect Types

Six Ways Mist
Becomes a Moment.

01
Flush-Mount Ground Fog

Misting nozzles set flush with concrete, pavers or decking — zero above-ground footprint. Mist rises from the surface as if from nowhere. The most specified effect for council precincts, civic squares and high-traffic public spaces.

Best for: Civic precincts  ·  Town centres  ·  Plazas  ·  Pathways
02
LED Colour Misting

High-pressure mist combined with integrated LED lighting — the mist cloud becomes a canvas. Any colour, any intensity, programmable sequences and event-triggered activation. Kurri Kurri Town Centre uses this system as its signature night identity.

Best for: Night precincts  ·  Festivals  ·  Public art  ·  Branding
03
Landscape Sculpture Misting

Misting rings, halos and shrouds integrated with landscape sculptures, water features and architectural elements. The mist draws attention to the form while adding movement, atmosphere and cooling to the surrounding space.

Best for: Public art  ·  Water features  ·  Sculptural landscapes
04
Fog Wall & Catenary Effects

Catenary-suspended nozzle lines creating a curtain or wall of mist across a defined space — entries, thresholds, stage surrounds and event zones. Dramatic, directional and controllable.

Best for: Event entries  ·  Stage surrounds  ·  Threshold moments
05
Film & Photography Effects

Controllable, dense ground fog and atmospheric mist effects for film production, commercial photography and content creation. High-pressure systems produce consistent, repeatable effects on cue — no dry ice, no chemicals.

Best for: Film sets  ·  Commercial shoots  ·  Content creation
06
Wedding & Event Effects

Portable and permanent misting effects for weddings, corporate events and private functions. Ground fog for ceremony aisles, receptions, atmospheric effects for outdoor events. Delivered and operated by the youmist team.

Best for: Weddings  ·  Corporate events  ·  Private functions

Parramatta Aquatic Centre
River Sculpture & Fog Effect

City of Parramatta Council  ·  Western Sydney

The entry to Parramatta Aquatic Centre features a monumental Corten steel sculpture representing the Parramatta River — its layered form evoking the geological strata and cultural history of the waterway. youmist was engaged to bring the sculpture to life with a ground-level misting system that recreates the river's morning fog effect at the base of the installation.

Misting nozzles are concealed within the landscape planting beds at the sculpture's base, producing a low-lying ground fog that rises through the native grasses and around the steel form. The effect references the natural phenomenon of morning river fog, connecting the public art to place and season. Automated to activate at key times of day, the installation turns the entry forecourt into a moment of arrival.

  • Misting concealed within landscape planting — no visible hardware
  • Ground fog effect references morning river fog of the Parramatta River
  • Integrated with Corten steel public art sculpture at design stage
  • Automated activation — timed to key arrival and departure periods
  • Turnkey delivery — civil, plumbing, controls

Kurri Kurri Town Centre

Cessnock City Council  ·  Regional NSW

Kurri Kurri's town centre activation combines flush-mount ground misting with integrated LED colour lighting — a landscape architect-specified installation that gives the precinct a distinctive night identity while delivering meaningful cooling during the day.

Nozzles flush with the pavement surface. No above-ground hardware visible when the system is off. At activation — day or night — mist rises from the ground with programmable LED colour sequences creating the precinct's signature effect. Automated on temperature trigger during the day, event-triggered for night activation.

  • Zero above-ground footprint — flush with pavement
  • LED colour programmable — precinct night identity
  • Temperature-triggered day cooling
  • Designed with landscape architect at specification stage
  • Turnkey delivery — civil, electrical, controls
Specification Guide

Specified at Design Stage.
Delivered Turnkey.

youmist works with landscape architects, urban designers and council design teams at the earliest stage of a precinct project — providing hydraulic specifications, nozzle layout options, flush-mount detail drawings and full technical documentation suitable for development approval submissions.

We're not a supplier you call at the end of a project to fit something in. We're a collaborator at the design table who understands how misting integrates with pavement, structures, lighting and landscape — and who delivers the full installation when the time comes.

If you're specifying a precinct, park, plaza or public space and want to understand how misting can work within your design, we'd welcome an early conversation.

Available for Specification
  • Flush-mount nozzle detail drawings (DWG/PDF)
  • Hydraulic specification for DA submissions
  • Zone layout options for review
  • Pump room / plant room sizing requirements
  • Electrical load specifications
  • Controls & BMS integration notes
  • Maintenance access requirements

Worth Knowing

Every Special Effects
Installation Is Also
a Cooling System.

This is worth saying clearly: a youmist special effects installation is not decorative infrastructure. Every flush-mount ground fog system, every LED misting installation and every precinct activation delivers evaporative cooling to the space — up to 12°C of ambient temperature reduction during operation.

Councils that specify a misting installation for its visual impact are also delivering a functional public cooling solution. Landscape architects who include misting in a precinct design are satisfying both the activation brief and the urban heat management brief in a single element.

The effect is the feature. The cooling is the function.
Both come standard.
